Pinot Noir vom Schloss

Pinot Noir vom Schloss 2009

This Pinot Noir excels with intricacy and finesse, revealing complex aromas of red berry fruits with subtle undertones of fine spices and delicate minerality. An unusual closeness to the Burgundy type for an Austrian setting.

Origin: The vineyards surrounding the castle, Pulkau valley

Soil: Deep sedimentary rock of marine origin with sand and a high amount of lime

Alc.: 13% • Acidity: 4,9 g/l • Residual sugar: 1 g/l

Vinification

Healthy grapes only were hand-picked at the beginning of September, de-stemmed and left to cold maceration for 2 days to extract fruit. During its 2-week fermentation in 100% stainless steel tanks, fluid must is poured daily onto the solid components to obtain the optimum in colour and extract. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, this Pinot Noir with fine notes of fruit matures for 24 months in large, traditional oaken barrels in the perfect atmosphere provided in the baroque estate cellar.

Recommended drinking temperature: 16°C
(slightly chilled)
Anticipated maturity:
2013-2019

Food pairing

A superb match for quail, venison pie and lamb, also with Edam and Mozzarella cheese.
