Grüner Veltliner Schloss

Grüner Veltliner

vom Schloss 2011

The traditional grape variety of the winery. Notes of yellow fruit like mango and pineapple on the nose combine with spicy aromas of ripe fruit. Showing finesse and complexity on the palate, it is a vibrant and powerful Veltliner full of elegance.

Origin: The vineyards surrounding the castle, Pulkau valley

Alc.: 13% • Acidity: 6.3 g/l • Residual sugar: 1.6 g/l

Vinification

Healthy grapes only were hand-picked in mid-October and gently pressed after 12 hours of maceration. The self-clearing must was left to ferment slowly with wild yeast from the vineyard (spontaneous fermentation) in traditional, large wooden barrels in the perfect atmosphere provided in the estate cellar. The wine aged on its lees in wooden barrels for several months to build its distinctive character with deep aromas of fruit and elegance.

Recommended drinking temperature: 12-14°C
Anticipated maturity:
2013-2019

Food pairing

A very fine match with the classics of Austrian food. As for fish, it goes extremely well with salmon or trout with almond slivers.
